Two men were injured in a stabbing incident on Ellice Avenue on Friday afternoon, leading to charges against three individuals, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.
At approximately 3:15 p.m. on April 4, 2025, Central District officers responded to multiple reports of a stabbing in the 400 block of Ellice Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old male victim near the intersection of Vaughan Street and The Promenade suffering from an upper-body stabbing injury. Police provided immediate emergency medical care, including the application of a chest seal, before paramedics arrived.
A second male victim, aged 19, was found in the 400 block of Qu’Appelle Avenue, also with an upper-body stabbing injury. He too was transported to hospital in stable condition for further treatment.
An investigation into the incident revealed that the two victims were part of separate groups involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation. Police determined that both injured men produced edged weapons and assaulted each other, resulting in their injuries. Authorities received several calls prompting their attendance at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, the 19-year-old male and the 30-year-old male, both residents of Winnipeg, have been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon. Additionally, a 25-year-old male from Winnipeg faces a charge of Possession of a Weapon.
Police confirmed that the two injured individuals were not known to each other prior to this incident.
All three individuals were released on Undertakings, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
