Winnipeg Police have two suspects in custody in connection to a November kidnapping.
Police say that on November 20, 2021, a male in his mid twenties agreed to meet with several people he knew outside his North Kildonan home. When the male went outside he was forced into a waiting vehicle and driven to an unknown residence. The male was tied up and seriously assaulted by his kidnappers. He was ordered to call family and friends begging them for large sums of money. The victim was then driven to River Road in the RM of St. Andrews and abandoned in the snow without a jacket or shoes.
Police say that the victim was found by a passerby and taken to a Winnipeg hospital.
On December 18, 2021, officers executed a search warrant at a Sage Creek home and arrested 18-year-old Adam Ahmed Mohamed for his alleged involvement. He has been charged with Attempt to Commit Murder, Kidnapping and Robbery.
On December 27, 2021, Police searched an Osborne Street residence after obtaining a warrant and arrested 31-year-old Akech Dut Ajak. He has been charged for his alleged involvement with Attempt to Commit Murder, Kidnapping and Robbery.
Both accused were detained in custody.
