The investigation into the death of Ashley Murdock, whose body was discovered at a Kennedy Street apartment complex on July 5, 2024, has taken a significant turn, with charges upgraded and a fifth suspect arrested.
Winnipeg Police Service initially responded to a call at approximately 7:20 a.m. on July 5th, where the body of Ashley Murdock was found in the 300 block of Kennedy Street. Investigators quickly determined that Murdock had been moved to that location after her death, leading to a homicide investigation.
Initially, four individuals were charged for their alleged involvement in connection with Murdock’s death: Kelly Marie Kroeker, 32, was charged with Second Degree Murder. Kenneth Walter Young, 28, Charles Harold Wood, 38, and Devon Charlie Colomb, 26, were all charged with Accessory to Murder.
However, the investigation has uncovered further evidence. Kenneth Walter Young, who was initially charged with Accessory to Murder and held in custody, now faces a charge of First Degree Murder.
Police have also apprehended a fifth suspect in the case. Dregus Daniel Young, 24, has also been charged with First Degree Murder in connection with Murdock’s death.
Young has been detained in custody.
