Two men facing charges in connection to several break-ins

Winnipeg police have arrested two 27-year-old men after the pair were linked to several property related offences including two commercial break-ins on Friday, August 25, 2023.

According to police, officers responded to a break-in at a commercial property in the 2400 block of Main Street around 7:20 pm. Two suspects were located nearby and taken into custody. As the investigation unfolded officers linked the pair to another break & enter that happened a few blocks away less that an hour before. In both cases the suspects tried to pry open a door to get entry. In the earlier incident the suspects were confronted by the owner of the business and fled.

As police searched the suspects they found a .410 calibre round of ammunition and a Manitoba Metis Federation card that did not belong to either suspect. Officers were able to link the stolen Metis card to a Corydon Avenue robbery of a 58-year-old female on Ay 24, 2023.

As investigators continued to look into the case they linked one of the suspects to several other incidents including a July 29 break-in to a property in the 1400 block of Henderson Highway where property was stolen and the break-in of a business in the 1300 block of Henderson Highway where several sets of kets to vehicles were stolen. The suspect returned the next evening and stole a 2004 Ford F-250 Lariat, a 2020 Hyundai Elantra, and a 2020 Kia Forte Ex, according to police. The suspect was also linked to the theft of a dealership license plate from a dealership near Selkirk Avenue and Main Street.
