Brandon Police have arrested two men for using counterfeit currency on Saturday evening, March 13, 2021, at the same Richmond Avenue restaurant.
Police were called to the restaurant after a male had used two counterfeit $50 American bills to pay his tab.
The suspect left the restaurant in a cab but was found by police in a department store on 18th Street North soon afterward and arrested.
Police say that the suspect had also been arrested just two days before on March 11 for using counterfeit currency at a convenience store on 1st Street.
The 24-year-old Griswold man faces a number of counterfeit and other charges in relation to the incidents.
A few hours later police returned to the same restaurant this time for a second male accused of using a counterfeit $50 bill to pay for his meal. Before officers arrived the suspect left in a taxi. He was located at his residence and arrested. Police say he was in possession of several counterfeit Americam bills I the $100, $50 and $20 denominations.
The male was released on a promise to appear in court in May.
Police have not said if the two incidents are linked.
