Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries announced on Friday May 28 that two employees from two different stores tested positive for COVID-19
According to officials, an employee at Park West Liquor Mart located at 6640 Roblin Blvd in Winnipeg tested positive for the virus. The employee did not have any symptoms when they worked their last shift on May 14 between 4:15 and 8:15 pm.
Another employee at the Dominion Liquor Mart at 21 Marion Street in Winnipeg also tested positive for the virus but also had not worked since their shift between 4:30 and 9:30 pm on May 14. The employee did not have any symptoms while they were working.
The crown corporation posts on their website the dates and locations where employees were last working after they test positive for COVID-19. They noted “Since the onset of the pandemic, we have been diligent in following Public Health guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19, including enhanced cleaning, mandatory masks, social distancing, hand hygiene protocols and sanitization and disinfection procedures. Our employees are also required to self-screen for signs of COVID-19 before reporting for work; if they are feeling at all unwell, they must stay home.”
In addition to the two employees at liquor marts there have been six employees who work in the liquor distribution centre who have tested positive for the virus since May 18.
