Winnipeg police are investigating an assault that happened around 9:00 pm on Monday, July 11, 2022, in the 600 block of Balmoral Street.

Police say that two people were injured after they tried to intervene in the robbery of an elderly female. The female suspect turned on the pair and were assaulted with a weapon causing significant injuries. The suspect then fled.

A female in her 50s was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable. A male in his 50s was transported in stable condition.
