Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two fires Sunday night within 20 minutes of each other.
Around 9:15 pm a fire in a two-storey house in the 300 block of College Avenue had residents fleeing as crews arrived. Smoke could be seen coming from the home.
Firefighters used the Flameguard X-Tinguish Fire Suppression Tool (FST) which is an aerosol device that dramatically reduces fire temperatures making it safer for crews to enter a burning building.
Once the FST had been deployed an offensive attack was launched. The fire was declared under control at 10:25 pm.
No injuries were reported.
At 9:35 pm a second fire in the 800 block of McDermot Avenue was called in. Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the two-storey structure.
Firefighters helped two of the occupant in the building to get out while others self-evacuated before crews arrived. One man made it to safety by jumping onto a neighbouring roof. He sustained injuries and was taken to hospital along with a second person. Both victims were transported in stable condition.
