Police swarmed to the area around the 1300 block of St. Matthews Avenue late Friday night, March 6, 2020 for the report of gunshots.
Customers told officers that a male and female shot at group of about seven people that included two youths under 15.
No one in the group was injured and the suspects fled before officers arrived.
The subsequent investigation led police to a home on Adsum Drive around 10:30 pm on Saturday night where two people were taken into custody.
20-year-old Jayden Riley Derksen was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement in the incident with:
- Pointing a Firearm x 7
- Assault with a Weapon x 7
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order x 4
Kara-Leigh Traverse, 18 is facing charges for her alleged involvement for Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon and Carry Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device.
Both suspects were detained in custody.
