Two in custody after Friday night shooting incident

Winnipeg Police have two people in custody after a shooting incident late Friday night, July 10, 2020.

Just after 11:30 pm police responded to the area of Sargent Avenue and Edmonton Street after receiving a report that two men were seen shooting at a local food business.

The pair were seen running past an apartment on Carlton Street at Cumberland Avenue moments after two shots were heard witnesses tell News 4.

Police converged on Cumberland Avenue and Hargrave Street moments later and took two males into custody.

A search of a backpack one of the men was carrying resulted in the seizure of a sawed-off .30-30 break-action rifle along with a spent round of ammunition.

Police say that no one inside the business was injured during the shooting.

Reggie Ian Houle, 31 from Winnipeg, has been charged for hia alleged involvement with Discharge a Firearm with Intent, Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Courtney Douglas Wandowich, 33 from Winnipeg, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Discharge a Firearm with Intent, Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Possession of Firearm and two counts of Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order.

They were detained in custody.
