Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two fires on the same block of Agnes Street within 25 minutes of each other.

At 4:32 am crews were called to a one-storey home. As they arrived they encountered heavy smoke coming from the building. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:57 am.

While firefighters were battling that fire a second call came in for a fire in a second home further down the block. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:18 am.

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
