Two females face drug trafficking charges after fleeing from traffic stop

Two women from Ebb and Flow First Nation are facing charges after attempting to flee from police with illegal drugs in their vehicle.

According to RCMP officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 2:30 am on February 13, 2022, on Provincial Road 278 south of Bacon Ridge, Manitoba.

When the driver refused to stop officers deployed a spike belt causing the vehicle to come to a stop. The occupants in the vehicle were taken into custody. A search uncovered 52 grams of methamphetamine, 6.5 grams of cocaine and more than $1,000 in cash. Officers also found other drug related paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Holly Baptiste, 35 and 27-year-old Denee Baptiste were charged for their alleged involvement with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Flight from Police and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

RCMP continue to investigate.
