Firefighters responded to two fires within minutes of each other on Friday evening, May 28, 2021.
At 5:04 the call came in for a fire in a two-storey structure in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue.
Flames and smoke were coming from the residential building and an offensive attack was launched. A ladder truck was used to attack the fire from above. It was declared under control at 5:32 pm.
No injuries were reported. Police helped firefighters notify the occupants of the building and get them out.
Minutes later, at 5:11 pm a fire in a commercial building was reported in the 200 block of Stanley Street.
Smoke was coming from the building when firefighters arrived and an offensive attack was launched. The fire was declared under control at 5:38 pm.
No injuries were reported.
Officials say they the cause of both fires are under investigation.
