Two daytime fires result in two people taken to hospital

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is investigating two unrelated fires on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

Alfred Avenue Fire

At 10:40 am firefighters responded to a blaze in a detached building behind a home in the 900 block of Alfred Avenue. The structure was fully engulfed in flames as crews arrived on the scene and an offensive attack was launched while other firefighters protected the home from a possible fire extension. The blaze was declared under control at 11:13 am.

One person was assessed on scene by paramedics and taken to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported

Talbot Avenue Fire

At approximately 1:40 pm WFPS crews were called to a garage fire behind a home in the 100 block of Talbot Avenue.

The garage was well-involved when emergency crews arrived and an offensive attack was launched. The fire was declared under control at 2:14 pm.

One person was assessed at the scene by paramedics and was transported to hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of both fires are under investigation.
