Two break-in suspects arrested after being interrupted by homeowner

RCMP are investigating a break-in at a rural property near McCreary that happened around 11:25 am on Monday, March 8, 2021.

Police say that the homeowner had returned to his property after the alarm in is garage had been triggered only to find two suspects. The pair had allegedly forced open the garage door. On seeing the homeowner an adult male and female fled on foot.

The property owner tailed the suspects in his vehicle and contacted police.

Responding officers located the suspects on Highway 50 and placed them both under arrest. Police say that when attempting to identify the pair the male provided a false name to officers.

Davey Mousseau, 29 and an unnamed 26-year-old female both from Portage la Prairie were charged for their alleged involvement with Breaking and Entering.

Mousseau was also charged with Obstruction and Failing to Comply. He was detained in custody.

The female suspect was released and will appear in court in the near future.

RCMP continue to investigate.
