Winnipeg Police have arrested two male suspects in relation to the theft of several vials of narcotics, including Fentanyl, from an ambulance at St. Boniface Hospital on November 27, 2017.

Police and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were concerned over the theft because of the dangers of taking these particular drugs unsupervised. Fentanyl can be fatal.
Investigators were able to identify two suspects in the theft and on Thursday, December 7, 2017, just after midnight the pair were arrested in the area of Kennedy Street and Ellice Avenue. At the time of the arrest police were also able to locate two vials of Fentanyl that they believe was taken from the ambulance. Officers also seized some methamphetamine.
Christopher Lee Tonn, 36 from Winnipeg, has been charged for his involvement with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of Scheduled Substance-Methamphetamine
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
Gary William Dutka, 44 from Winnipeg, has been charged for his involvement with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
They were both detained in custody.
