Two people have been arrested after a number of violent robberies took place in south Winnipeg Saturday night, July 22, 2017.
It began just before 11:00 pm when a 25-year-old woman was assaulted by an unknown female for no reason at a restaurant in the 2700 block of Pembina Highway. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Five minutes later at about 11:00 pm a 16-year-old male youth was riding his bike at Pembina Highway and Dalhousie when he was confronted by a male and female suspect. The youth was assaulted and knocked off of his bicycle. The suspects continued to assault the victim while he lay on the ground. The suspects took off with the victim’s bike and other property. The boy was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Not more than 15 minutes later a 16-year-old female was assaulted, again by the suspects, The male grabbed the victims phone and hit her in the upper body. she was also assaulted while she lay on the ground.
The last robbery attempt was thwarted by police. Around 11:45 pm a woman, in her 40s, was in a store in the 2100 block of Pembina Highway when she was confronted by a man and woman who demanded her phone. Investigators in the area due to the three previous incidents arrived on scene and were able to arrest both suspects.
Charged for their alleged involvement with a number of offences related to the robberies and assaults are Tonisha Shylene Favel, 21, from Winnipeg
and Matthew John Delorme, 23, from Winnipeg,
