Two 20-year-old males are in custody after they allegedly threatened patrons and security at a Portage Avenue mall the robbed two others in a vehicle at gunpoint.
Police were called and directed to the males by the mall’s security officers. Both suspects tried to outrun the responding police officers but were quickly arrested.
During the foot pursuit, one of the males tossed a loaded 9mm handgun. Police recovered the weapon and found that it contained a 30-round magazine. The weapon also had its serial number tampered with. The second male was found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun when he was taken into custody.
Police say that the two men had been acting strangely within one of the stores in the mall and staff called security. The security officers asked the men to leave the mall at which point they were threatened by the suspects. The men then approach a vehicle in the mall’s parking lot and robbed the three occupants at gunpoint. They fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Sampson Paul Pistun and Trent Redhead face a combined 19 charges for their alleged involvement including, armed robbery, uttering threats and multiple weapons offences.
