RCMP in Manitoba have taken a 29-year-old man into custody in connection to two adults and three children found dead on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
According to police, officers were called to Highway 3 about 6.5 kilometres south of Carman around 7:30 a.m. for the report of a hit and run. When police arrived they located a deceased adult female in a nearby ditch.
Around 10:00 a.m. RCMP in Headingley were called to a vehicle fire on Highway 248, north of PTH 424 in the RM of Cartier. While police were en route a witness pulled three children from the burning vehicle. All three children were pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was located at the scene of the vehicle fire and taken into custody.
As the investigation continued officers went to a home in Carman and located the body of a second adult female.
Investigators say that the man and all five victims were known to each other. The deaths are considered suspicious.
RCMP continue to investigate.
