Two additional cases of COVID-19 for the second day

Manitoba Public Health confirmed that there are two new cases of COVID-19 identified on Thursday, June 18, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed and probable positive cases remains at 308.

“The two new cases are household contacts,” said Dr Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s chief provincial public health officer. ” The initial case is related to travel outside of Canada.”

One of the individuals announced as a positive COVID-19 case today had made trips into the community before they became symptomatic. Public Health says that they had gone to Home Depot on Bishop Grandin Boulevard on June 12 between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and had also gone to Kenaston Boulevard Walmart on June 13 between 6:00 pm and 7;00 pm.

Public Health says the risk to others in those locations is very low but it is sharing this information to ensure people are aware and know to seek testing if symptoms develop.

There are currently eight active cases in the province with 293 people listed as recovered.

There is currently no one in hospital with the virus

The total number of deaths related to COVID-19 in Manitoba remains at seven.

828 tests were performed on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, bringing the total number of tests to 55,743.
