Manitoba announced on Monday, October 18, 2021, that parmacies across the province will soon be able to perform rapid COVID-19 tests for people travelling outside the province.
“These measures enable pharmacists to expand services for all Manitobans by performing, interpreting and providing results of these tests to people who require a negative test to travel,” said Manitoba Health and Seniors Care Minister Audrey Gordon.
Pharmacies will be able to offer rapid antigen and rapid molecular (non-PCR) tests. The province noted that there will be a fee for the service as travel-related health services are not an insured health benefit. Pharmacies will be able to set their own fee for testing.
To be able to get a rapid test individuals will be required to present documents related to their travel plans like plane or train tickets or proof of a hotel booking. Different countries require different rapid test so ensure you know what’s required before getting a test.
