On Friday afternoon, July 19, 2019, several people near Higgins Avenue and Austin Street witnessed a male commit a serious act of self-harm.
Police received multiple calls to 911 and dispatched officers to the area. The male was located near Higgins and Main Street. Officers and a bystander immediately began applying first aid while paramedics were enrolee.
The male was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Police say the nature of this event was traumatic for those who witnessed it and say there are a number of resources that are available:
