Several people injured in Transit – Pickup collision

Several people were taken to hospital Thursday morning, February 8, 2018, after a Winnipeg Transit bus and a pickup truck collided in St. Vital.

The crash happened around 6:45 am

Police say that the driver of the pickup crashed into the side of the bus. The transit driver was taken to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. The male driver and female passenger in the pickup were taken to hospital in unstable condition but have since been upgraded to stable.

Investigators say that the driver of the pickup a 29-year-old male had been drinking and was impaired at the time of the collision. The driver refused a breathalyzer.

Warde Avenue and John Forsyth Road were closed in the area while police investigated.

Police have charged the driver of the pickup with Drive While Ability Impaired and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

He was released on a promise to appear in court.
