A 38-year-old woman lost her life in a train accident near the 200 block of Stradbrook Avenue, on July 1, around 3:54 a.m.,
The victim, whose identity has been confirmed and notifications made, was initially thought to have been disembarking a passenger train when she was struck by a freight train operating in the opposite direction. The severity of the impact resulted in fatal injuries.
Police have since updated information related to their investigation and have confirmed the victim was walking on the railroad track when she was hit by a moving freight train. The deceased was a resident of Winnipeg.
Emergency services, accompanied by Central District officers, were directed to the scene by rail crews. The conductor of the freight train remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators, providing crucial information for the initial investigation.
