A serious motor vehicle collision at the corner of Portage Avenue and Bedson Street has resulted in the tragic death of a pedestrian. The incident occurred at approximately 7:39 a.m., on September 13, 2024, prompting a swift response from the Winnipeg Police Service and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.
Emergency responders attended to the pedestrian, who unfortunately succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Three additional individuals were transported to the hospital and are currently listed in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a Ford F150 was traveling eastbound on Portage Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian and a bus shelter. The collision also caused damage to a secondary vehicle, a hydro pole, and a nearby gas station.
The Traffic Division is actively investigating the incident. The pedestrian has been identified as 40-year-old Nardia Cameria Bedward of Winnipeg. Notifications to the family have been made.
