Winnipeg Police have laid more than 30 charges against two men after they ran from a traffic stop on Henderson Highway on Monday night, July 17, 2023.
Police say that officers observed a speeding vehicle on Chief Peguis Trail around 8:45 pm. They attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver did not pull over but turned into the back lane near Litz Place. The driver and passenger jumped out of the vehicle and tried to flee on foot.
During a foot pursuit with police a gun and pills were discarded by the suspects before they were taken into custody.
Police seized:
- a loaded 9 mm handgun with an obliterated serial number
- magazine with ammunition
- Percocet pills (estimated street value of $1,400)
- crack cocaine (estimated street value of $100)
- 2 cell phones
- $485 Canadian currency
25-year-old Samuel Kifia Andom was charged for his alleged involvemetn with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 10
27-year-old Royce Anthony James Boyle has been cjarged for his alleged imvolvement with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohib Weapon, Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
Both of the accused were detained in custody.
