Traffic stop on Fisher River Cree Nation leads to drug seizure

RCMP have arrested a 32-year-old male from Fisher River Cree Nation after a traffic stop in the community leads to the seizure of drugs.

Police say that around 10:00 pm Friday night, November 20, 2020 they conducted a traffic stop and during a search of the vehicle they located 125 grams of Cocaine, bear spray and drug paraphernalia.

The driver was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. 

Officers also issued the accused with ticket for Failing to Comply with a Provincial Emergency Order, under the Public Health Act, for not self-isolating as directed. 

He is scheduled to appear in court in March, 2021.
