Winnipeg Police Service has made two weapons arrests following an early morning traffic stop at the intersection of Isabel Street at Alexander Avenue on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
According to police, while officers were conducting the traffic stop they noticed a can of bear spray inside the vehicle in plain view. Three adult males were arrested without incident.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded 9mm Block-style handgun with a 3D printed receiver.
A 23-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Weapon x 3
He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
Dillon Riley Barker, 27, of Winnipeg, is charged for his alleged involvement with the following offences:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
Brent Scott McCann, 33, of Winnipeg, is charged for his alleged involvement with the following offences:
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon or restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
- Possession of a Weapon x 2
Both were detained in custody.
