A suspicious vehicle took police on a chase throughout multiple areas of the city early Monday morning, February 3, 2020.
Around 1:15 am officers tried to conduct a traffic stop near Sherbrook Street and Logan Avenue. The vehicle refused to stop and sped off with officers behind.
As the suspects fled they ran a red light at Logan Avenue and Arlington Street.
Air-1 began tracking the vehicle and followed from above as the suspects made their way through the Shaughnessy Heights and Tyndal Park areas of the city.
The eyes in the sky observed the suspects throw an object out of the vehicle on Fairgrove Bay. Officers on the ground recovered the object that turned out to be a loaded sawed-off shotgun.
The chase continued over the next 30 minutes to Oak Point Highway, Omands Creek, Sargent Park, Wolseley and West Broadway. At this point, the male passenger jumped out of the vehicle but was quickly apprehended on Young Street.
The driver continued to try to evade officers and abandoned the vehicle on Roslyn Crescent. A K-9 unit tracked the female driver and took her into custody in the first 100 block of Balmoral Street.
When officers searched the female they found a number of cheques that had been stolen from various locations in March, October and November 2019. Police say they also found ID that had been stolen from a home in December 2019.
Police believe that female was responsible for withdrawing hundreds of dollars by cheque from a man whose vehicle had been broken into in November 2019.
Both suspects are also accused of stealing an Amazon package from the front of a home in February 2019.
