Traffic stop leads to four facing weapons and drug charges

Four people are facing a slew of charges after police conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Main Street early Wednesday morning, December 5, 2018.

As officers initiated the stop they noticed the driver change places with a passenger.

Police say the driver showed signs of drug impairment and was arrested. As he was being searched officers found a needle containing methanphetamine, four shotgun shells, a pair of cell phones and a couple hundred dollars in cash.

Officers then arrested two other males and a female who were passengers in the vehicle. A search of them uncovered another needle with meth, a cell phone, a zip gun that was loaded, three .22 calibre cartridges and 12 shotgun shells.

A search of the vehicle produced a loaded 12 gauge shotgun, ammunition, small baggies, a digital scale, 18 hydromorphone pills and a .25 gram rock of crack cocaine.

Police also found 8 grams of meth hidden in the females clothing once they had taken her to Police Headquarters.

Harold James Maytwayashing, 37 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapons Contrary to Regulations
  • Possess Weapon
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized X2
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X2
  • Driving While Ability Impaired
  • Fail to Refuse to Provide Sample – Drug Evaluation
  • Drive Without Licence or With Invalid Licence
  • Fail to Have Required Equipment
  • Possession of Methamphetamine

Gary Leo Joseph Carriere, 42 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapons Contrary to Regulations X2
  • Possess Weapon X2
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition X2
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized X8
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in Motor Vehicle X2
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm X2
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Hydro morphine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X8

Carriere was also arrested on a Canada Wide warrant for Unlawfully at Large.

Timothy Jordan Hastings, 29 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapons Contrary to Regulations
  • Possess Weapon
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized X3
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X3
  • Possession of Methamphetamine

Morgan Cale Bruyere, a 23-year-old female from Powerview-Pinefalls has been charged for her alleged involvement with:

  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapons Contrary to Regulations
  • Possess Weapon
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Breach of Recognizance

 

All four have been detained in custody.
