Traffic Stop Leads to Firearms Arrest

Late Sunday night, August 4, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a male youth was stopped by the Winnipeg Police Guns and Gangs Unit while driving in the 1100 block of Wall Street. The traffic stop was conducted to verify if the driver held a valid driver’s license.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the 17-year-old driver did not possess a valid driver’s license. Further inspection revealed that he was in possession of a loaded .32 caliber revolver handgun and six rounds of .32 caliber ammunition.

The Guns and Gangs Unit promptly arrested the youth and charged him with several offenses, including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License.

The youth was released from custody on an Undertaking as per the Criminal Code.
