Brandon traffic stop leads to drug trafficking charges

Brandon Police have arrested two people in connection to drug trafficking late Saturday night, June 22, 2019

Poice say that just before midnight they pulled over a vehicle that had expired license plates. As the officer approached the vehicle it sped away. Police followed and about five block later the vehicle pulled over once again. This time however the female driver bolted from the vehicle in an attempt to evade police.

A K-9 unit was called in and tracked the female. She was arrested shortly afterwards.

The male passenger was arrested just outside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle uncovered about nine ounces of crystal meth, Oxycodone, Tylenol 3 and Gabapentin.

The 24-year-old female has been charged with Possession of Controlled Substances for the purpose of Trafficking, Flight from Police and Obstruction Police Officer.

The 29-year-old male is facing a charge of Possession of Controlled Substances for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Both suspects were detained in custody.
