Traffic stop leads to drug trafficking charges

Winnipeg Police have arrested two people in connection to drug trafficking after a traffic stop on Cumberland Avenue early Friday morning, March 26, 2021.

Officers made the traffic stop around 1:35 am and learned that the driver was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants. A search of the vehicle located nearly $10,000 worth of Methamphetamine, $32,000 worth of MDMA and about $1,000 in cash.

43-year-old Christoper Bruce Stewart was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with three counts of Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possess Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000 and HTA Drive Without Licence. He was also processed on two outstanding arrest warrants.

Stewart was detained in custody.

Police also arrested a 29-year-old female passenger. She is facing three drug trafficking charges for her alleged involvement.

She was released on an Undertaking.
