Traffic stop leads to drug and weapons charges

A 27-year-old male from Mitchell, Manitoba is facing a number of charges related to drug and weapon offences after Winnipeg Police saw him speeding northbound on Highway 59.

Officers pulled the man over near Lagimodiere Boulevard and Prairie Grove Road just before 11:00 am on Friday, September 21, 2018.

The driver of the vehicle was in possession of 61 grams of Cocaine at the time of the traffic stop. Officers placed him under arrest.

An investigation resulted in Winnipeg Police obtaining a search warrant for a home in Mitchell and raiding it along with officers from Steinbach RCMP.

Four long guns and a loaded .357 handgun were seized

The suspect has been charged with:

  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations X4
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

He was released on a Promise to Appear.
