Traffic stop leads to 21 charges against a Calgary man

A traffic stop in connection to an investigation into firearms and drugs ended with the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect from Calgary, Alberta.

Police say they stopped a taxi near Stafford Street and Warsaw Avenue around 11:00 am on October 6, 2021. The suspect was taken into custody and a search uncovered drugs, cash, a 9mm handgun and ammunition. Officers also found identity documents.

Samy Yebeyo was charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Possession of a Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle, Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Four counts of Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Fraud Under $5,000, three counts of Possession of a Forged Document with Intent, six counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.

He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for three counts of Fail to Comply Undertaking and two counts of Fail to Comply Sentence.

Yebeyo was detained in custody.
