Traffic stop leads to largest marihuana seizure in Canada since 2015

RCMP show off the illegal drugs they seized during a July 22, 2018, traffic stop of a transport truck and trailer on the Trans-Canada Highway near Westhawk.

Police say the stop was initiated to conduct a routine inspection of the driver’s paperwork.

During the inspection, officers noticed several discrepancies with the paperwork. This prompted an inspection of the load. Officers seized 925 pounds of marihuana in vacuum-packed bags as well as 75 pounds of “shatter” (a product of cannabis), oils and edibles that were hidden inside the trailer amongst a load of food products destined for Ontario.
