On Wednesday November 23, 2016 around 3:00pm a semi-trailer slammed into a low CP Rail bridge that crosses Highway 1A just west of Brandon.
The semi driver has been ticketed under the highway traffic act for failing to pay attention to the “low bridge ahead” sign.
The driver was not injured but there was significant damage to the trailer.
CP Rail Police and bridge inspection crews were called to the scene but there is no word on any damage to the bridge.
The highway was closed until just before 8pm as crews worked to remove the twisted trailer from the scene.
