The project began in 2012 when the municipal, provincial and federal governments announced joint funding for the Plessis Road Underpass. Originally set at $77 million the final costs are much higher and the project more than a year behind schedule.
Today all the construction comes to an end on the project that has frustrated drivers for years. At 11:00am the official ribbon cutting opens all the north and southbound lanes to traffic.
