Winnipeg fire crews were called to the scene of a working fire early Sunday evening by Winnipeg Police Cadets who discovered the fire.
It happened just after 5:oo pm in the 400 block of Toronto Street
Heavy black smoke greeted fire fighters as they pulled up.
One person in the home was able to escape when the blaze broke out.
Fire officials are continuing to investigate.
Cost estimates for the amount of damage is unknown.
