Winnipeg police say that on Saturday, September 3, 2022, around 11:00 am in an apartment suite in the seven oaks area, a toddler got a hold of a loaded gun that had not been secured and began running around the suite while an adult was asleep.
The teen babysitter quickly took the gun from the child but it discharged accidentally striking the babysitter. The teen suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body and was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Police have charged a 20-year-old female for her alleged involvement with Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs and Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition.
She was released on an undertaking
