Ice fishing season comes to end
For many ice fishing is a great way to spend the long winter that Manitobans get to endure every year but every Spring it must come to an end.
Today the province announced that all ice fishing shacks must be removed from Red River as soon as possible but no later that March 12th. Fishers have until March 31 on other waterways in Southern Manitoba and by April 15th in other areas of the province unless local conservation officers request otherwise.
Manitoba Sustainable Development is concerned this year over the uncertainty of ice conditions on the Red River as high temperatures and high water from the United States moves north.
Always check ice conditions before venturing onto waterways especially at this time of year.
