Winnipeg Police have arrested three teenagers in connection with a late-night armed robbery at a fast food restaurant on Keewatin Street, and subsequent investigation has linked one of the suspects to three additional robbery and theft incidents in the same area.
At approximately midnight on Sunday, April 13, 2025, officers from the North District General Patrol, assisted by the K9 Unit and the Air1 helicopter, responded to a report of a robbery at knifepoint in the 900 block of Keewatin Street. Upon arrival, police learned that several suspects had fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
Air1 provided crucial aerial surveillance, tracking the suspects as they dispersed in different directions. Ground units were then directed to their locations, and three individuals were apprehended without incident shortly thereafter.
The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and determined that the suspects had entered the establishment, brandished knives, and demanded money from an employee. During the robbery, the employee was threatened at knifepoint while one of the suspects forcibly removed the cash till before all three fled on foot.
As a result of their investigation into this latest incident, the Major Crimes Unit was able to connect one of the arrested individuals to three other similar incidents at nearby fast food establishments:
- March 25: Suspects entered a fast-food establishment in the 900 block of Keewatin Street and fled with a till containing an undisclosed amount of funds.
- March 28: Suspects broke into a fast-food establishment in the 1000 block of Keewatin Street after operating hours, causing approximately $800 in damage and stealing store merchandise.
- April 6: Suspects entered a fast-food establishment in the 900 block of Keewatin Street and fled after an unsuccessful attempt to remove a till. Shortly after, the same suspects confronted an employee at the same location and committed a robbery by demanding money at knifepoint, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of funds.
Police have laid charges against the three individuals arrested on April 13th. A 13-year-old female and a 16-year-old male are facing charges of Robbery and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. A 15-year-old male faces a more extensive list of charges, including:
- Robbery x 2
- Possession of a Weapon
- Theft Under $5,000 x 2
- Break Enter & Commit – Place
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the four incidents.
All three accused individuals have been released on undertakings, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
