Winnipeg Police Responded to the Capri Motel on Pembina Highway early Saturday morning, February 29, 2020, for the report of a fight.
When officers arrived they found three people seriously injured by a pack of vicious dogs.
Two of the victims sustained life-altering injuries. All three were taken to hospital.
Police say that the dogs were owned by one of the victims.
Police swarmed the area with thirteen separate patrol units including two K-9 units and members of the tactical support team.
Over the next four hours officers combed the Ft. Garry area searching residential and industrial areas intently.
Animal Services as well as Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service members also participated in the search.
During the incident police took to social media warning people to avoid the area and to stay in their cars if transiting through.
Two of the dogs were located by officers in nearby neighbourhoods and had to be put down by police. Another adult dog and a puppy were hit by a vehicle on Pembina Highway. The puppy was taken to a vet for treatment but the adult dog got away.
Police warn anyone in the area that may come across the the adult dog to avoid it and call police.
All four dogs appear to be pitbull/mastiff crosses.
The investigation continues.
