Three people facing assault and resisting arrest charges

Three people are facing assault charges after they allegedly attacked several civilians, police and a police dog with bear spray.

Police say that between 9:30 and 10:30 pm a female and two males, aged 20, 18 and 13 were involved in unprovoked attacks that began in a St. Mary’s Road convenience store when an employee was sprayed in the face with pepper spray. The trio left the store put on ski masks then sprayed a second victim in the face before fleeing on foot. A few minutes later a third victim was sprayed in the face in the 200 block of Meadowood Drive.

Police located the suspects running through a parking lot as they tried to evade capture. As police moved in, in an attempt to capture the suspects, three officers were also sprayed in the face. The suspects also sprayed a police dog in the face.

All the victims were treated by paramedics. The police dog was decontaminated by its handler.
