A 33-year-old man is in custody after he was found with a weapon and assaulted three officers during his arrest in the 1500 block of Magnus Avenue.

Winnipeg Police Service was called to the area after receiving reports of a male with a large knife.

The suspect appeared intoxicated and challenged officers while armed. He refused to comply with orders and a taser was used to gain control over the violent and aggressive suspect. During the incident the male allegedly assaulted several officers.

Brett Kennedy of Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Possession of a Weapon, two counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order, Resist peace Officer and three counts of Assault Peace Officer.

He was detained in custody.
