Winnipeg Police Service has arrested a 31-year-old man in commection to a months long crime spree this past summer.
Police say that between June 20 and September 13, 2023 the accused would go into businesses and take various items like air conditioners and power tools and then flee the store without making any effort to pay. In one of the incident the suspect pulled out an axe and lunged at a loss prevention officer before leaving the area.
In total more than $22,000 in property was stolen.
Michael Dean Smith has been charged for his alleged involvement with fourteen counts og Theft Under $5,000 and Robbery.
He was detained in custody.
