Three men wanted in armed robbery at a bar on Ness Avenue

Winnipeg Police are looking for three suspects after they fired a shotgun blast into the ceiling of a bar in the 3000 block of Ness Avenue on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, just before 8:30 pm.

Police say that the suspects, all wearing disguises, went to Gizzy’s Restaurant and Bar and on their way in robbed a man of his cell phone as he was standing outside. They then entered the building and ordered everyone to get on the ground. One of the males fired a shotgun into the ceiling.

The suspect who fired the weapon was overpowered by employees and patrons.  They attacked the robber with pool cues and chairs and they were able to disarm him.

Surveillance video captured the robbery and patrons attacking the shooter.

Police, including the Tactical Support Team and Air-1, responded to the scene after they received the report of shots fired.

All three of the suspects had taken off before officers arrived, The shotgun was given to officers.

Police searched the area for several hours after the incident but have yet to make any arrests.

One person was injured during the attack on the shooter. He was taken to hospital in stable condition and was later released.

“We would like to remind people that if something like this does occur in your business, just simply comply and allow those people to leave safely,” said Skrabek.
