Three men have been charged in Main Street stabbing say Winnipeg Police Service.

Minutes before 11:00 pm on Friday, February 3, 2023. Police responded to the report of an assault. When they arrived they found a 57-year-old man suffering from stabbing-related injuries. Officers provided emergency medical care until paramedics arrived. The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable.

Three men were taken into custody about a block away from the incident. Officers seized a knife and the victim’s property during the arrest.

Police say they believe the group of men confronted the victim without any provocation and proceeded to assault and rob him.

Two twenty-year-old males have been charged for their alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault and Robbery. A third 20-year-old man has been charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault, Robbery and Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.

Police say the victim and assailants did not know each other before the incident.

Investigators are not releasing the names of the accused at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.
