Three males in custody after allegedly forcing women into sex trade

Winnipeg Police Counter Exploitation Unit have arrested three men in connection to an investigation dating back to the end of April of this year.

Police say that on April 29th they learned a female along with two other victims were being threatened and forced to work in the sex trade.

The women were apparently promised money, housing, clothing and other amenities by at least on of the suspects.

According to investigators for six weeks between the end of April and the beginning of June the suspects posted online ads offering sexual services from the victims. The suspects would then arrange “date” for the women at various hotels when the ads were replied to.

Police say on multiple occasions the suspects would drive the victims to their “dates” and collect payment after.

Bego Muhmutovic, 19 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with: Procuring Person to Provide Sexual Services X2, Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Material Benefit from Sexual Services.

Yahya Ahmed Yahya, 19 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with: Procuring Person to Provide Sexual Services X2, Material Benefit from Sexual Services.

Ali Noaman Jaljal Zangana, 20 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Procurring Person to Provide Sexual Services X3
  • Administer Noxious Thing with Intent – Aggrieve or Annoy
  • Material Benefit from Sexual Services X3
  • Advertising Sexual Services
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance
  • Attempt Obstruct Justice

All three suspects have been detained in custody.

Investigators are continuing to work the case. They say they believe there are other victim’s who may be connected to the suspects or in similar situations. Police say they think the suspects have rented facilities throughout Winnipeg.
