Saskatchewan men face multiple criminal charges

Brandon Police have arrested a man and a woman  on multiple charges after a caller tipped them off about an assault that occurred in a vehicle travelling on 1st Street.

It all started on Wednesday May 10, 2017. Police received a report that an assault had occurred in a black Audi SUV with Saskatchewan plates. When police arrived on scene they were unable to locate the vehicle.

Several hours later police received another report that the driver of the SUV was possibly in possession of a handgun.

Police located the vehicle in the early hours of Thursday May 11, 2017 in a hotel parking lot in the 200 block of 18th Street. Police were able to identify the suspect who was driving the Audi and found that he had a lengthy and violent criminal record. He was also on recognizance and restricted by conditions to reside at an address in Saskatoon under curfew.

Just after noon Thursday police watched the man and woman exit a hotel room and get into the SUV. It was at this point that police attempted to execute a traffic stop. As one officer attempted to take the driver into custody the vehicle took off dragging the officer. The officer was not hurt. A pursuit happened and ended shortly after the driver lost control of the SUV in the rail yard under the 1st Street Bridge.

The female attempted to flee the vehicle at this point but was quickly arrested. The male suspect got away on foot.

Police brought in the dogs and were able to track the man behind a shed in the rear of a home on 3rd Street.

He was taken into custody.
